Anil V. Virkar教授学术报告会

  应动力工程多相流国家重点实验室王秋旺教授邀请,美国工程院院士、燃料电池研究领域的世界著名学者、美国犹他大学Anil V. Virkar教授于2007年7月6日至8日来我校进行访问。  2007年7月6日上午,Anil V. Virkar教授在东三楼乙217热流中心多媒体教室以“Electrode Polarization in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells: From Out of Cell Measurements to Cell Performance Calculations”为题作了精彩的报告。现场气氛活跃,师生提问踊跃,Anil V. Virkar教授对提出的问题作了耐心细致的回答。

  Anil V. Virkar教授现为美国犹他大学教授,材料科学工程学院主任,美国工程院院士,在燃料电池领域取得了很多开创性的研究成果,具有很深的造诣,为燃料电池领域的进步作出了重要贡献。Anil V. Virkar教授1967年本科毕业于印度理工学院Indian Institute of Technology,1969年硕士毕业于美国路易斯安那大学Louisiana State University,1973年博士毕业于美国西北大学。现为American Ceramic Society、American Society for Metals和The Electrochemical Society成员。曾多次获得犹他大学、Indian Chemical Engineering Society、The Electrochemical Society等机构的奖励。到目前为止,已发表论文170多篇,申请发明专利33个,出版专著3本。

Awards/Honors:

1) Best Teaching Award in the College of Engineering (1991).
2) Fellow of The American Ceramic Society (1992).
3) Ross Coffin Purdy Award of the American Ceramic Society(1993).
4) University Distinguished Research Award, (1994).
5) Mountain Man of the Year (1995); University of Utah Alumni Award.
6) Listed in ISIHighlyCited.com (this is by Thomson, the company which for the past several decades has been the compiler and publisher of science citation index) as one of the most highly cited researchers in the Materials Science category (one of about 242 researchers listed worldwide – based on research published between 1980 and 2000) (Current listing). The University of Utah has a total of twelve faculty members in various disciplines.
7) One of the winners of the DOE Basic Science Divisions ‘Chunky Bullets Competition’. This resulted an additional $50 k for the DOE Basic Science Division funded research. (2002).
8) Alkyl Amines Distinguished Speaker Award of the Indian Chemical Engineering Society, December 2003.
9) Fellow of The Electrochemical Society (2006).
10) Outstanding Award of the High Temperature Division of The Electrochemical Society (2006).
11) Utah Governor’s Medal of Science & Technology (2006).
